Five-level NPC power converter

Tutorial n°4

This tutorial shows a possible control implementation for a five-level NPC power converter and its operation in open-loop mode. The power converter can be operated as a basic grid-forming NPC inverter.

In addition to the control of Neutral Point Clamped converter itself, this tutorial addresses the multi-level modulation and served as an example of a student project together with imperix prototyping solutions for power electronics. An alternative implementation for a three-phase three-level NPC inverter is shown in a new technical note.
