They also serve to configure how this data is sampled, filtered, and rescaled, prior to being used inside the application-level user code. Together, these parameters constitute the so-called <strong>software part<\/strong> of the ADC channel configuration, as opposed to the hardware part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>hardware part<\/strong>, on the other hand, also requires some configuration, whose details depend on the controller model. The table below summarizes these differences and provides direct links to the associated user guides. Related information is provided in <a href=\"https:\/\/imperix.com\/doc\/help\/over-current-and-over-voltage-protection\">PN257<\/a>.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Principles-of-operation\"><\/span>Principles of operation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The sampling of all analog inputs is always conducted simultaneously, driven by <strong>SCLK<\/strong>, which is a simple derivative of <strong>CLK0<\/strong>, only differing by the <code>SAMPLING_PHASE<\/code>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both the freqency and the phase of the ADC sampling are defined from the <a href=\"https:\/\/imperix.com\/doc\/software\/config-control-task-configuration\">CONFIG<\/a> block. They set part of the overall timing configuration, which must be properly coordinated with modulation-related actions to guarantee the desired execution of the control algorithms. Notably, the two following options are possible:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Single-rate sampling<\/strong>, in which case the control task is executed once per PWM period. This is the default configuration used in most examples.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Double-rate sampling<\/strong>, in which case the control task is executed twice per PWM period, requiring ADC sampling to be executed twice faster than the modulation. This case gives best performance, provided that sufficient CPU time is available.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Advanced sampling configurations<\/strong>&nbsp;are also possible, typically authorizing to retrieve multiple samples at once (data history), variable-frequency switching, or running FPGA-based control tasks at a higher rate than the CPU.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Frequency and phase aside, all other ADC parameters are individual, channel-specific settings that can be configured independently within each ADC block. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Block-parameters\"><\/span>Block parameters<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Addressing<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Device ID<\/strong>&nbsp;selects which device to address when used in a multi-device configuration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Input channel(s)<\/strong>&nbsp;(vectorizable)&nbsp;selects which physical input channel to read from.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sensor specifications<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>Sensor <\/strong>provides a list of imperix sensors. Selecting a sensor automatically populate the sensitivity parameter. When <em>None <\/em>is selected, the user must manually enter the sensitivity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sensitivity <\/strong>(vectorizable) is the sensor sensitivity in Volts per measured unit (e.g. V\/V for a voltage sensor and V\/A for a current sensor).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Output offset(s)<\/strong> (vectorizable) compensates for the sensor offset. It is expressed in Volts at the output of the sensor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Input full scale<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>Input full scale<\/strong> parameter can be set to\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Maximum<\/em> <em>(device dependant)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Programmable (B-Box RCP 3.0 only)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Programmable gain value<\/strong> can be set to 1x, 2x, 4x or 8x and must match the B-Box RCP 3.0 front panel setting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-simple-alerts-for-gutenberg-alert-boxes sab-alert sab-alert-warning\" role=\"alert\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/imperix.com\/products\/control\/rapid-prototyping-controller\/\">B-Box RCP 3.0<\/a> features a programmable gain amplifier, which can be set to 1x, 2x, 4x or 8x. These correspond to input scales of \u00b110V, \u00b15.0V, \u00b12.5V and \u00b11.25V, respectively. This gain <strong>must be<\/strong> configured via the B-Box front panel, as described in <a href=\"https:\/\/imperix.com\/doc\/help\/analog-front-end-configuration-on-b-box-rcp?currentThread=b-box-rcp-3-0#Front-end-configuration-hardware\">PN105<\/a>. The\u00a0<strong>programmable gain<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>value<\/strong>\u00a0in the ADC block <strong>must also match<\/strong> the front panel setting, as gain mismatch will occur at the ADC block output otherwise.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-simple-alerts-for-gutenberg-alert-boxes sab-alert sab-alert-info\" role=\"alert\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/imperix.com\/products\/control\/rcp-controller\/\">B-Box 4<\/a> have a fixed input full scale of \u00b110V while the <a href=\"https:\/\/imperix.com\/products\/control\/power-inverter-controller\/\">B-Box Micro<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/imperix.com\/products\/control\/inverter-control-board\/\">B-Board PRO<\/a> have a fixed input full scale of \u00b15V. For these devices, the <strong>input full scale<\/strong> parameter should remain to <em>Maximum<\/em>. A different setting would be ignored otherwise, and a warning message displayed in the log.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sampling<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Synchronous averaging<\/strong>&nbsp;computes the average of multiple samples over a specific and synchronous time interval. The interval can be configured to <em>1 period of&nbsp;CLK0<\/em> or <em>2 periods of&nbsp;CLK0<\/em>. This technique very effectively rejects high-frequency artifacts and is therefore enabled by default.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>Low-pass filter<\/strong> is available in B-Box 3 and 4, providing a more aggressive attenuation in the high-frequency range. The chosen filter cut-off frequency may however introduce a non-negligible group delay, which should be accounted for in the control algorithm (and, ideally, the selection of the sampling phase).<br>For the B-Box RCP 3.0, the low-pass filter must be configured via the front panel, as explained in <a href=\"https:\/\/imperix.com\/doc\/help\/analog-front-end-configuration-on-b-box-rcp?currentThread=b-box-rcp-3-0#Front-end-configuration-hardware\">PN105<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Data history<\/strong> configures the block to output a vector of the N most recent ADC samples, which can be useful when the sampling frequency &nbsp;F<sub>SCLK<\/sub>&nbsp;is larger than the CPU task frequency F<sub>CPU<\/sub>. The maximum history depth is 64 samples.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Simulate synchronous averaging \/ low-pass filter<\/strong> allows for a more accurate simulation, but it increases the simulation time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-simple-alerts-for-gutenberg-alert-boxes sab-alert sab-alert-success\" role=\"alert\">Using synchronous averaging should be the preferred approach in most cases. between them. <\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-simulink-block\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Simulink-block\"><\/span>Simulink block<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-signal-specification\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Signal-specification\"><\/span>Signal value representing the measured quantity in its physical unit (e.g. Volts, Amperes).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <code>sim<\/code> input signal is used in simulation and documented in <a href=\"https:\/\/imperix.com\/doc\/help\/simulation-essentials-simulink\">Simulation essentials with Simulink (PN135)<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <code>&gt;<\/code> input signal needs to be connected
