IGBT Power module for the laboratory
Onboard protection mechanisms
As with all imperix power modules, the PEB4050 IGBT power module embeds protection mechanisms, such as over-current/voltage detection, which block the IGBT phase-leg in case of hazardous behavior and thus ensure that its capabilities are never exceeded.
Combined with the adjustable protections of our programmable controller, the IGBT power modules are the ultimate solution for safe and efficient converter prototyping in both teaching and research applications.

Application examples of IGBT modules
Most power converter topologies can be built using half-bridges, which can be considered as the basic building blocks of power electronic systems. Basic use case scenarios built with PEB modules include single-phase inverters and three-phase inverters, as well as isolated or non-isolated DC/DC converters.

New IGBT power module
A powerful IGBT half bridge
PEB4050 VS previous generation
Based on state-of-the-art IGBT semiconductors, the new PEBs enable faster switching frequencies than our previous IGBT power modules, while guaranteeing lower losses.
The new modules allow building power converters with superior harmonic performance, more compact passives, and thus increased power density.
In addition, the embedded current sensor features a high measurement bandwidth, allowing to precisely sense the output currents, enabling the validation of fast closed-loop control techniques.
PEB4050 VS previous generation
Reduced switching losses
PEB4050 offers about half the switching losses of the previous PEB4046 module. This broadens the range of their possible applications.
Reduced conduction losses
A drastic reduction of conduction losses can be observed between PEB4046 and PEB4050, with over 30% less energy lost during conduction!
Modular building blocks
Benefits for power electronic research
Our Silicon-based IGBT power modules – similarly to our Silicon Carbide (SiC), MOSFET-based modules – offer an excellent trade-off between ease of use and suitability to multiple applications. They are ideally suited for rapid control prototyping applications, where the quick implementation of the power stage is essential.
Versatile
With these building blocks, power inverters or any converter topology can be built in the blink of an eye. What’s more, power modules can be reused among multiple projects.
Easy-to-use
The IGBT modules contain everything needed to start working right away (sensors, logic, cooling,…). Combined with a B-Box controller, they form a plug-and-play solution.
Powerful
The PEB half bridge modules are sufficiently powerful to handle a few kW per phase. This makes them a perfect choice for demanding laboratory applications or pilot systems.
Robust
IGBT modules are well protected and can be safely put in the hands of inexperienced engineers. This is ideal for teaching or student projects, or even classroom applications.
Power module accessories
Rack-mounting equipment
Imperix power electronic building blocks are best assembled within rack-mountable frames or enclosures. This guarantees the highest flexibility, thanks to the modular nature of the power converter modules.
PEB modules can be mounted within open rack-mountable frames. As such, modules remain easily accessible and can be easily put in (or taken out) of the chassis.
Imperix power modules can also be placed within enclosures that make use of 4mm laboratory safety plugs. This guarantees that no dangerous voltage can ever be reached.
For those interested to have a first configuration that is fully ready-to-use, imperix offers a standard box with inductors and LC filters. Components have reasonable, but fixed values.
Other power modules
Imperix power electronic building blocks are best assembled within rack-mountable frames or enclosures. This guarantees the highest flexibility, thanks to the modular nature of the power converter modules.
